Residents and commuters using the Chrompet Railway Station, want authorities to re-lay the battered stretch of Station Border Road, at the earliest.
According to sources, the said road is one of the important areas in the neighbourhood, connecting the station with Nehru Nagar, Venkatraman Nagar, M C Nagar, Hasthinapuram, Gajalakshmi Nagar, State Bank Colony, Purushothaman Nagar and Chitlapakkam.
Since the road has too many potholes, commuting has become difficult here. Speaking to News Today, Shanmugavel, a resident of Radha Nagar, said, “We have petitioned many times to the Railway and Municipal authorities to repair the stretch. Since the road comes under the jurisdiction of the Southern Railway, the Chrompet Municipality is unable to kickstart the repair works. We hence request the concerned officials to act by giving a new coat to the lane.”
“The stretch has not been laid for years, despite repeated requests. Due to its bad condition, two-wheelers and auto rickshaws find it tough to ply by. As dusk falls, riding is all the more inconvenient, since the area is poorly illuminated,” stated Preethi, a regular passenger here.
