Tuticorin: “I have given a letter, a resolution seeking Speaker’s removal and according to a Supreme Court ruling, Dhanapal cannot take any action (on the MLAs issue) when a move is pending against him,” said DMK president M K Stalin yesterday.

Stalin stated that according to a Supreme Court ruling the Dhanapal cannot contemplate action against the three AIADMK MLAs, who are AMMK founder TTV Dhinakaran’s loyalists.

Speaking about this during his campaign for DMK candidate M C Shanmugaiah for the Ottapidaram Assembly elections, the leader of the opposition party flayed the AIADMK for sending notices to the three MLAs – Prabhu (Kallakurichi), VT Kalaiselvan (Vriddhachalam) and E Rathinasabapathy (Aranthangi). He accused that they had done so to somehow save the government.

His outburst comes after the Speaker had on Tuesday issued notices to three MLAs, following the ruling party petitioned the him for action against them for alleged anti-party activities.

He alleged, “They are not worried even a little bit about the people… people are angry with this government and even their (AIADMK) partymen are furious against the dispensation since it failed miserably to deliver on all fronts.”

Stalin is confident that DMK would win the bypolls to all the 22 Assembly segments and come to power once again in Tamilnadu and further claimed that the ruling government had sensed defeat and so had planned to disqualify the three MLAs. Bypolls for four more assembly segments will be held on 19 May.
