Chennai: Coming to Chennai in search of a job in 1977, Natesan struck gold by getting into the business of making ‘wigs’.

Since then, ‘Natesan Cine Wigs’ has been catering to the movie, television industries, theatre productions and even for people affected by cancer.

In a chat with News Today, Natesan shares his journey.

“My first movie was Sivaji Ganesan’s Vetrikku Oruvan, for which I stitched about 50 wigs,” he says, adding, “Everyone including the actor was impressed with my work. Later, Sivaji himself offered me a job. I had to make wigs in his house.”

He is happy to inform that he has worked with numerous stalwarts of the Tamil film industry like MGR, Nambiyar, Rajinikanth and more.

Having opened his first shop at Vadapalani and later in Kodambakkam, Natesan has been providing wigs to actors in TV serials for almost 20 years now.

On supplying for cancer-affected people, he states, “One day, a patient came to my shop. I had no knowledge about the disease and I gave her a wig casually. She was so impressed with my product that she ended up recommending me to other patients. The Adyar Cancer Institute and numerous hospitals often refer my shop. Since many can’t come here, I personally visit them and deliver their products.”

So how long does it take to make one wig? “It takes about four days. I can also give a three-year guarantee for each of it,” he notes.Ā When asked on what is the biggest takeaway from his job, he says, “Nothing has given me more happiness than helping cancer patients overcome their insecurities. Life is all about being happy and making others happy.”
