Chennai: R P Krishnammachari, industrialist and a resident of Ashok Nagar, donated Rs 10 lakh to Lions Blood Bank and Research Foundation on the occasion of the Lions Blood Bank moving to its own building at Ambattur recently.

In recognition of his contribution, he was honoured with ‘Privileged patron’ award on the occasion.

Krishnammachari is the founder-trustee of Lions Blood Bank which was started in 1984 by Lions Club of Egmore with International Lions Club grant.

They have been collecting nearly 1,000 units of blood per month and its components for the past 35 years. Krishnammachari resides at 75, Textan House, Fourth Avenue, Ashok Nagar.
