Chennai: Nearly 70 sovereigns of gold was robbed from a doctor’s house at Perambur Railway Quarters.
According to the police, the theft took place at the residence of Dr Kumar (54), who worked at the Railway Hospital. He had gone with his family to Orissa as his son Thanish appeared for an entrance examination 27 June.
On Sunday, the doctor contacted his domestic help Santhosh and asked him to clean the house as he was returning home.
Santhosh found the front door broken open and informed Kumar, who lodged a complaint with the police over phone. It is said that nearly 70 sovereigns of gold was missing from the house. Police are conducting an inquiry.
