Chennai: The city police arrested three persons with gutkha, a banned tobacco product.
According to the police, based on a tip off, police found 200 kgs of zarda (chewable flavoured tobacco) which arrived at Puratchi Thalaivar Dr M G Ramachandran Central Railway Station’s parcel office.
The parcel had come from Ahmedabad and police arrested Surendar (23), a driver and Durai (27) of Korukkupet. Based on their information, another person ‘Pencil Ayya’ (27) of Korukkupet was also arrested.
Nearly 12 kgs of Maava was seized from him. Elephant Gate police have registered a case.
