Vasi, Pooja Sree in Thavam Movie Photos

Thavam is an action drama directed by R Vijay Anand and AR Surriyan starring newcomers Vasi and Pooja Shri in the lead. The film also has Seeman donning an important role alongside other well-known actors Santhana Bharathi, Singampuli, Bose Venkat.

The story begins with Akila (Pooja Shri), who never wishes to get married, narrates the reason for the reluctance to her fiance taking us into a flashback. Akila goes along with her office colleagues to attend the marriage of her boss’ son which coincidentally happens in her native village in Karaikudi. She meets Murugan (Vasi) there and once she gets to know that he is her childhood friend, she falls in love with him.

The story takes a turn when Siva Anna a local don (Director Vijay Anand) murders a man in front of the village. When no one comes forward to reveal the identity of the killer to the police, Akila reveals it and wanted Siva to be arrested. However Siva escapes from police custody and wants to kill Akila. Whether Murugan saves her or not forms the rest of the story. However the film also touches upon the issue of farmer’s plight which is said through another flashback portion with Seeman, portraying the role of Murugan’s father, who fights hard to protect the agricultural lands in the village from being taken over by a factory.

The first half is lengthy and with a weak storyline that has needless songs and with comedy too not working out, it tires the audience. Seeman is introduced only towards the end of the first half. Reprising the role of a teacher who fights for his village, he makes this portion of the film quiet engaging. He deserves credit for doing this role. Too many twists in the story in the climax takes away the sheen.
