Chennai: The city police are searching for a six-member gang which brutally attacked an auto driver at Red Hills.
According to police, Yogesh (24), from Kannappa Swamy Nagar, Red Hills, was attending the funeral of his friend Rose, who too was an auto driver. Rose had passed away due to an illness.
Police said, during the funeral six men on three two-wheelers rounded up Yogesh and attacked him with sickles. The men subsequently fled the spot. People nearby rushed Yogesh to Government Stanley Hospital.
Inspector of police of Red Hills, Vedivel Murugan visited the spot. Police said the gang members belong to Gandhi Nagar in Cholavaram.
It is learnt they also attacked a man identified as Masjid (28), a restaurant owner, on the same day.
