Chennai: The Tamilnadu government has decided to file a defamation case against DMK president M K Stalin for his corruption charges against Municipal Administration Minister S P Velumani.
According to reports, an order has been issued granting permission to the City Public Prosecutor to lodge a case against Stalin under IPC section 499.
Stalin had accused Velumani of indulging in corruption to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore by using M-sand instead of river sand for civil construction projects undertaken by Greater Chennai Corporation.
He had also reportedly said that complaints against Velumani were not proceeded as he was a close aide of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.
”The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption should take expeditious steps to investigate the Rs 1,000 crore corruption,” Stalin had said.
The GO said the defamatory statement is not only devoid of truth and good faith, but has been intentionally made against the interest of public good.
