
Chennai: Three children suffered serious injuries following a balcony collapse at Kodambakkam in the city.
According to police, the children were playing on the second floor of the three-storeyed building in Housing Board residential complex at Puliyur, Kodambakkam when it collapsed.
They were identified as Kavirayan (9), his brother Pavithran (6) and their friend Jeeva (13). While they were playing, the balcony collapsed and the trio fell from the second floor, landing on the first floor, which also caved in and collapsed to the ground.
The children were rescued and rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General hospital by residents living here. They are said to be in critical condition.
Deputy commissioner of police, T Nagar, Ashok Kumar, visited the accident spot. The building structure was said to be weak following a leaking roof which had not been fixed for years.
