Chennai’s coronavirus figures rise on top gear

Chennai: The city has reached the mark of 5,262 active cases of Covid-19. The locality of Royapuram has the highest number of positive patients in the city with 890 cases. Since yesterday, 62 more persons have contracted the disease.

According to a press release from the Greater Chennai Corporation today, looking at the area-wise break up, Kodambakkam is the second highest with 835 cases. Third highest containment zone is Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar with 622 persons.

Another hot spot is Teynampet, with 564 cases. Until yesterday, it was 522 cases. Valsaravakkam is seeing a surge in cases. In the last three days, it has jumped to 450 cases. It was standing at 426 positive persons yesterday and a day before it had 284 active cases. Anna Nagar currently has 448 persons with the virus infection.

In Tondiarpet, the number of positive cases has shot up to 402. The release said that Adyar has 290 persons with the infection. Ambattur is not showing a dip in the graph, currently it is has 254 cases and Thiruvottiyur has as many as 120 cases.

Other zones such as Madhavaram has 72 cases, Alandur has 61, Manali has 66, Perungudi and Shollinganallur has 64 patients each.
