Chennai: While welcoming the decision of Tamilnadu to provide special reservation in medical and dental courses, to the students studied in government schools, to bring about social equality and justice, Linguistic Minorities Forum of Tamilnadu has urged the State to include government-aided private schools under the reservation.
In a statement, the forum’s chairman Prof CMK Reddy and other office-bearers said, “we would like to bring to your kind notice that the linguistic minorities form over 30 per cent of State’s population. The government of Tamilnadu has been generous to extend benevolent aid and support to over 1,500 schools run by them, in view of their poor social and financial status.”
They added: “In view of their number and the socioeconomic conditions, we request to consider extending the government-aided private schools, the same benefit being given to those studying in government schools.”
