Chennai: To curb the spread of Covid-19 and to enforce social distancing, the State police have so far arrested 9,41,752 persons who ventured out during curfew.
Nearly 8,54,449 violations have been recorded by the police in various districts and FIRs have been registered against them, a press release from DGP’s office said today.
The restrictions have been imposed across the State since 24 March. As many as 6,67,324 vehicles were seized from these persons.
However, the vehicles are being returned to their owners in a phased manner. A total amount of Rs 19,75,52,783 has been collected from violators as fine since March.
