Chennai: In his Independence Day message, the Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, has appealed to all fellow citizens to desist from communalism and make the nation strong and vibrant.

He urged them to safeguard peace, harmony, tolerance and secularism and to defend democratic values, the Constitution and the Rule of Law, at all times.

“As, we are the law-abiding citizens of this great country, India, let us remember that secularism means equal rights for citizens belonging to all faiths, in other words, no discrimination against anyone on grounds of religion,” he said in his message.

“On this happy and joyous occasion of Independence Day, let us bear in mind that Indian law specifically prohibits the practice of communalism, the promotion of disharmony, enmity and ill-will between different religious communities,” he added.
