Chennai: The 2020 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy was released recently.
Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has been ranked 801-900 this year (2020) moving up from last year’s 901-1000 among world universities and VIT is the only private institution of India ranked in the Top 1000 as per the list published in the Shanghai Ranking website where it is also mentioned that VIT is one among the top 9 out of 15 institutions of India published by ARWU this year. VIT entered this ranking in 2019, said a press note.
VIT Chancellor G Viswanathan said that this was because of the commitment of VIT faculty, research scholars and hardworking students towards quality in research.
