Chennai:Ā Tamilnadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has announced a solatium of Rs three lakh for kin of each of the deceased in a landslide at Pettimudi in Idukki district of Kerala on 6 August. He announced Rs one lakh each for those who suffered severe injuries.
In a statement, Palaniswami said the tea estate labourers killed at Munnar in Idukki district of Kerala were natives of Tamilnadu and were living and working in the neighbouring state for a long time.
On his directive, a team of personnel from Theni district joined the rescue efforts in Kerala, he said, adding that 12 workers have been rescued and admitted in a hospital for treatment.
Apart from the assistance announced by Palaniswami, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has announced an ex-gratia of Rs five lakh to kin of the deceased and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs two lakh each to the victims.
