Chennai: Tamilnadu Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, DMK president M K Stalin, AISMK chief R Sarathkumar and other leaders have wished speedy recovery for DMDK president Vijayakanth, who has tested positive for Covid-19.

In a tweet, Panneerselvam said, “I pray God for the speedy recovery of dear brother Vijayakanth who has been admitted to hospital for ill-health.”

Stalin tweeted, “I came to know that DMDK president and dear friend Vijayakanth is getting treatment at hospital for ill-health. I convey my wish that he should return to public service in good health soon.”

Vijayakanth has been admitted to a private hospital in Chennai with “mild Covid-19 symptoms”.

According to a release from his party this morning, when Vijayakanth went to hospital for his routine health check-up, he was found with mild Covid symptoms.

“However, it has ben cured and Captain is now completely alright,” it added. The 68-year-old actor-turned-politician, who was fondly called as Captain, was last seen in a cameo role in his son Shanmuga Pandian’s film Sagaptham (2015).
