Chennai: Tamilnadu vaccinated 21,645 people on Monday, when 3,782 people – 30 per cent of the people who were due — returned to take the second shot of the vaccine.
According to sources, not many healthcare workers are interested in getting the vaccine due to various reasons. ‘They are being educated and reminders are being sent,’ sources added.
Meanwhile, there was an addition of 470 coronavirus cases in Tamilnadu to take the total number of infections in the State to 8,45,120. After 479 Covid-19 patients were discharged, the number of active cases stood at 4,260.
There were six deaths registered and 53,583 samples tested. According to the media bulletin issued by the Directorate of Public Health, among the deceased, one died without comorbid conditions.
The patient was a 44-year-old man from Kanniyakumari. The man tested positive for Covid on 6 February and was admitted in a private hospital in Nagercoil on the same day with complaints of fever, cough and difficulty in breathing for two days. He died on 13 February due to Covid-19 pneumonia.
