Chennai: The Madras High Court has said all writ petitions relating to polls will be taken up by the first division bench in the principal seat at Chennai.
In a notification, Registrar (Judicial) M Jothiraman said, “All writ petitions relating to Election Commission of India, Tamilnadu State Election Commission, State Election Commission, Puducherry, Parliamentary General Elections, Tamilnadu Legislative Assembly General Elections, Puducherry Legislative Assembly General Elections and Bye-elections (except cases invoking the provisions of Criminal Procedure Code and other Criminal Laws) filed before the Principal Seat at Madras as well as in the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court shall be listed before the Hon’ble First Division Bench in the Principal Seat at Madras.”
He said the notification has been issued by order of the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.
