Chennai: It was hectic activity at Makkal Needhi Maiam office today. Samathuva Makkal Katchi chief Sarath Kumar, who pulled out of AIADMK alliance, called on MNM supremo Kamal and expressed his desire to contest polls together.
It is to be noted that IJK’s Parivendhar, who won Lok Sabha polls in DMK alliance, chose to come out of the DMK combine to ally with Sarath Kumar.
Sources say that Kamal and Sarath Kumar held detailed discussions and it was decided that the name for CM would be decided after polls.
Meanwhile, former AIADMK MLA Pazha Karuppiah today joined the Makkal Needhi Maiam.
Satta Panchayath also joined the MNM alliance. Kamal addressing reporters said that Pazha Karuppiah will contest the elections.
Meanwhile Kamal Haasan announced a panel that will scrutinise nominations to contest in MNM party ticket. The panel that comprises Kamal Haasan, Pazha Karuppiah and former President Abdul Kalam’s advisor Ponraj among others will interview candidates. The first list would be out on 7 March.
Meanwhile it was announced that Kamal Haasan will embark on campaign across Tamilnadu from 3 March. He said MNM alliance would create history in Tamilnadu politics.
