Chennai: CBCID today informed the Madras High Court that the sexual harassment case against the former Special Director General of Police will be completed within eight weeks.

CBCID said that so far 87 witnesses have been inquired and added that the mobile phone of the official has been confiscated and CCTV footages have been sent for examination.

Justice Anandh Venkatesh appreciated the action taken by the government and postponed the next hearing to 13 April.

The Judge asked the CBCID officials to file their report on that day.Ā The Tamilnadu government on 18 March suspended the former Special Director General of Police.

The senior IPS officer, who is facing charges of sexual harassment made by a woman IPS officer, had been on compulsory wait.

The Madras High Court had earlier questioned why was he not suspended. The government had earlier suspended the then Chengalpattu Superintendent of Police, who was accused by the complainant of intercepting her car while she was going to meet the Home Secretary and the Director General of Police to file a complaint and of forcing her to talk to the accused officer.

The DGP rank official had allegedly sexually harassed another IPS officer in February while he was travelling in the same car with her. In her complaint, the woman official alleged that he held her hand, kissed it and made inappropriate comments to her.
