PNB scam: Mehul Choksi goes missing

New Delhi: Mehul Choksi – the 61-year-old fugitive diamantaire wanted by the CBI and Enforcement Directorate in connection with Rs 13,000 crore PNB loan fraud case – has gone missing in the Caribbean island nation of Antigua and Barbuda, to which he fled in 2018.

According to reports, Choksi, who was in Antigua after fleeing from India, may have fled Antigua as well and could have landed in Cuba.

The Antigua Police has filed a missing person’s report on diamond trader Mehul Choksi, who is wanted in the multi-crore PNB scam case. Mehul Choksi had taken the citizenship of the Caribbean island nation of Antigua and Barbuda.

Antiguanewsroom, a local media outlet, quoted Commissioner of Police Atlee Rodney that the police are ‘following up on the whereabouts of Indian businessman Mehul Choksi’, who is ‘rumoured’ to be missing.

Choksi was last seen at 5.15 pm on Sunday (23 May) evening while leaving his residence in a car. The Johnson Point Police Station in Antigua has filed a case on Mehul Choksi going missing from Antigua.
