Shivam Singla

Chennai: While most processes have gone digital in the last decade – paperwork remains the final frontier that continues to remain largely physical. Since 2016, Leegality has been changing this by building tools that helps in the reduction of the usage of paper.

Through its eSign, eStamp and Document Workflow platform – Indian companies can sign and manage paperwork digitally in a fast, easy and secure way.

In an interview with ‘News Today’, Leegality founder and CEO Shivam Singla shares about the company’s journey so far and future plans.

Elaborate the company’s journey so far…

Like most startups, our initial customers were also startups. They were willing to take risks on new tech process and eSign was quite new as a concept back then. However, in the last two years, we’ve primarily seen traction in the medium to enterprise segment of the market – and this is driving our fast growth so far.

What are your growth and expansion plans? What is the market opportunity you see in India going forward?

We see a tremendous business opportunity in India – our market size is USD four billion. And so, there is ample opportunity for growth. We aim to grow our revenue by 10 times over the next two years and are building our teams accordingly. In fact, by the end of this year, we are looking to double our workforce to meet the increasing demand among Indian enterprises and businesses for digitising their documentation processes.

Tell us about the proposed second round of funding. How much are you looking to raise?
In terms of funding, so far we have raised a Seed Round of funding led by the Mumbai Angels Network – and are in the process of raising a second round as well shortly. We are in advanced talks with reputed funds to help us scale up the business to meet the increasing demand among Indian enterprises and businesses for digitising their documentation processes.

How has Covid impacted your business?

We have been extremely fortunate that our industry actually grew because of the pandemic and lockdowns. Due to lockdowns disrupting physical paperwork – we saw a massive upswing in interest from Indian enterprise companies – who see our platform as a mission-critical solution to ensure business continuity and keep commercial transactions flowing.
