
Chennai: Tamilnadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit has donated Rs 10 lakh from his discretionary grant to the TN Animal Welfare Board CSR fund to carry out feeding and taking care of stray animals during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Purohit took note of news items appeared in dailies for fund crunch to feed stray animals during lockdown, and donated Rs 10 lakh from his discretionary grant to the Tamilnadu Animal Welfare Board CSR fund to feed the stray Animals during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Governor handed over the cheque to T S Jawahar, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Department.
The Governor also appealed to the people of Tamilnadu and NGOs to look into the welfare of stray animals, according to a Raj Bhavan communique.
The TN government is taking a lot of preventive measures and making elaborate arrangements to overcome the prevailing critical situation of the second wave of the pandemic and to safeguard the human and animal lives as a whole.
Purohit requested the people of Tamilnadu to wear mask, keep safe distance and take vaccination.
