TANGEDCO gets tech savvy


Chennai: Chief Minister M K Stalin has inaugurated a new electricity consumer care centre called ‘Minnagam’ at the TANGEDCO headquarters to redress all the grievances, including electricity connection, voltage fluctuation, power outage, damaged poles and cables.

Public can register their grievances by calling the 24×7 helpline number – 9498794987.
According to an official release, the customer care cell will have 195 people working in three shifts to attend to consumer complaints.

Each shift will have 65 staff registering all electricity related complaints in the database, which will then be forwarded to the superintending engineer and other engineers concerned through WhatsApp.

To act on the complaints at the district level, three persons on the basis of one person per shift has been appointed at each of the 44 superintendent engineer offices in all the districts. Consumers will get an SMS of the complaint number after registering their complaints.

After the complaint was addressed, another SMS will be sent to the consumer mobile number notifying it, officials said, adding that some complaints could be addressed immediately within an hour and some would take time, but all the complaints will be addressed at the earliest.

TANGEDCO which did not have an official social media account would have a social media cell to monitor and address the complaints through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram now.
