Chennai: A Villupuram court has served copies of the chargesheet to suspended Special Director General of Police Rajesh Das in connection with the case pertaining to the sexual harassment of a woman Superintendent of Police in February this year.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court also served the copies to Superintendent of Police D. Kannan (since suspended) on the charge of waylaying the woman officer when she was on her way to lodge a complaint.
Ten days after CB-CID filed chargesheet at the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court against the police officers in connection with the sexual harassment case, the two appeared before the court on Monday.
CB-CID had registered cases under IPC sections354 A(2), – sexual harassment, 341 – wrongful restrain, 506 (1) – criminal intimidation, and section 4 of Tamilnadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act against the two.
The Madras High Court recently directed the Villupuram CJM to conclude by 20 December the trial in the case.
