Chennai: Sleuths from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) today raided 52 places linked to former Minister and AIADMK leader S P Velumani.
According to sources, searches started this morning in Chennai, Kancheepuram and Coimbatore. “The operation is being carried out in connection with a graft case against Velumani,” sources said.
This comes after the DVAC had recently raided former Minister MR Vijayabhaskar. While Velumani was the Municipal Administration Minister, Vijayabhaskar was in charge of Transport portfolio.
Velumani had recently alleged that the State government was foisting false cases on AIADMK cadres and that police have become agents of the DMK government.
“Since the DMK government could not deliver on the promises they made, they were resorting to raids to divert attention,” he alleged.
