TN plans third mega jab camp this Sunday


Chennai: Tamilnadu government will hold its third edition of the mega Covid vaccination camp on 26 September, aiming to inoculate 15 lakh people in the State.

A total of 20,000 booths will be set up across the State. ‘We had no supply of Covid-19 vaccines in the last two days. The Chief Minister wrote a letter to the Prime Minister, and the Health Secretary contacted senior officials of the Union Health Ministry, following which we received five lakh doses,’ Health Minister M Subramanian said.

On 20 September, Stalin wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking for 5 million additional vaccine doses every week to the state to achieve the target of inoculating all uncovered eligible beneficiaries by 31 October.

He has also stressed that such mega camps need to be conducted regularly along with daily vaccinations in TN in order to overcome the low vaccination coverage in the State.
