Chennai: The Tamilnadu Health department reported 973 new Covid-19 cases, 1,114 recoveries, and 21 deaths on Tuesday.
The department has warned shoppers and shopkeepers to strictly adhere to Covid-19 standard protocols and not to allow overcrowding in shops and streets during Deepavali.
Chennai reported 109 (111) new cases and Coimbatore 114 (117). A total of 95,552 persons were administered the vaccine on Tuesday to take the total vaccinated 5,66,78,533, according to State health department data.
As many as 1,15,219 samples were tested, taking the total count to 5,13,94,614.
Twelve districts reported new Covid-19 infections below 10, while Perambalur reported zero new cases, while the active infections in the district was at 30, the bulletin said.
