Chennai: A whopping number of 9.80 crore passengers have travelled in Chennai Metro Rail from 29 June 2015 to 31 December 2021, the CMRL has said.
It said 2.53 crore passengers travelled in 2021 alone. It is to be noted that Metro Train services were suspended from March 2020 to September 2020 and from May 2021 to June 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown.
In a press release, CMRL requested passengers to wear facemasks at all times in Metro Station premises and inside Metro Trains for their own safety and maintain social distancing.
