Chennai: The Tamilnadu government has announced that the general public would not be allowed in all places of worship between 14 and 18 January.
A complete lockdown (essential services exempted) would be in place on January 16 (Sunday), which is the Kaanum Pongal day when people would visit places of attractions in large numbers. Night curfew will be in force till 31 January. It will remain effective from 10 pm to 5am from Mondays to Saturdays.
Extending the lockdown till 31 January, Chief Minister MK Stalin today imposed a few more restrictions in view of increasing Corona caseload.
Considering the interests of the people who are going to their native places for Pongal festival, passengers can occupy 75 percent of the seats.
All other restrictions that are in force will continue. Other restrictions pertaining to restaurants’ take away service and theatres will continue till this month-end, a release said.
