Putham Pudhu Kaalai Vidiyaadhaa… is a anthology taking forward the narrative of Putham Pudhu Kaalai released last year in Amazon Prime, telling tales on the theme of personal discovery of hope and new beginnings through human connection.

Much like the first instalment, the Amazon Original series is a collection of 5 standalone stories that are set in pandemic. Set in the second lockdown in India during the pandemic, the stories feature Aishwarya Lekshmi, Arjun Das, Dhilip Subbarayan, Gouri G Kishan, Joju George, Lijomol Jose, Nadiya Moidu, Nirmal Pillai, Sananth, and TeeJay Arunasalam, and are directed by Balaji Mohan, Halitha Shameem, Madhumita, Richard Anthony and Surya Krishna.

Mugakavasa Mutham by Balaji Mohan is light-hearted but engagjng fare. It is about the budding romance between police constables Murugan (Teejay Arunasalam) and Kuyili (Gouri G Kishan), who guard a checkpoint during the second wave of the pandemic. Simple dialogues and spot on performance by lead artistes makes it a good watch. Loners by Halitha Shameem in impressive from the word go. It speaks about loneliness this lockdown, which all went through. Nalla (Lijomol Jose) goes on to meet Dheeran (Arjun Das) through a virtual wedding. Two different types of people who gets acquainted and breaks loneliness. If Lijomol was spontaneous, Arjun Doss is meticulous. Impressive he is in his performance. His baritone voice and powerful show as someone who misses his friend have been brought out well.  Nadiya Moidu and Joju George in Madhumita’s Mouname Paarvayaai takes us to silent world. Almost a silent-film, it talks about anestranged husband and wife, who are not on talking terms during pandemic period. Emotionally strong is Mouname Paarvayaai. Speaks a lot silently.

Surya Krishna’s The Mask revolves around Sananth, a gay man and his problems. He tries to break the taboo here. And finally comes Richard Anthony’s Nizhal Tharum Idham. Aishwarya Lekshmi plays the lead. A girl lost her daughter comes to her native town. She has little memories to recall. Things take a turn and she from a confused state of mind starts to look things clearly.
