Temperature to rise, but Chennai may get rains

Chennai: Even as people are suffering from the scorching summer heat, here is some good news – Occasional spells of rain may bring a respite from summer heat for the city residents.

According to the IMD outlook for May, some parts of coastal Tamilnadu are likely to get above normal rainfall in the month. Some interior districts may receive normal to below normal rainfall.

For the next 48 hours, the IMD has forecast maximum and minimum temperatures to be around 38°C and 28°C with sky conditions being partly cloudy. The agency has also forecast maximum temperatures to be above normal by 2°C-3°C at isolated pockets over Tamilnadu.

Chennai Meteorological Center Director P. Senthamarai Kannan said the maximum temperature in one or two places in Tamilnadu is likely to rise to 5 degrees Fahrenheit for the next two days.

The sky will be partly cloudy in Chennai. Temperatures can range from 82 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
