The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) has issued guidelines for the immersions of Ganesh idols in water bodies as part of Vinayaka Chathurthi celebrations. Toxic or non-biodegradable paints and chemicals must not be used to decorate the idols. Only those idols painted using water-soluble and non-toxic natural dyes would be allowed to be immersed in water bodies, the release said. Public have been requested to immerse idols made of raw clay and does not contain any chemicals.
