Gaza, Oct 18: The Hamas Health Ministry on Tuesday said that 500 people were killed after a rocket fired by Israel hit a hospital in Gaza. According to them the rocket hit the hospital and caused a blast leaving people dead.
Hundreds of people were supposedly taking shelter at the al-Ahli Hospital hospital amidst the ongoing conflict between the Israeli military and the Hamas group. As the rocket hit the building it was engulfed in fire and glasses shattered. Body parts were also seen stewed around after the blast, according to a report in the Associated Press.
According to reports this is the deadliest Israeli attack on the territory in the last 5 wars fought between the 2 sides in the last 5 years since 2008. There was no immediate response from the Israeli military on the blast. They said that they are looking into the report of the blast.
Hamas in its statement said, “Two hundred to 300 displaced people killed in occupation (Israeli) strikes on the yard of the Ahli Arab hospital in central Gaza.” According to them, hundreds of victims are still under the rubble.
The Hamas have termed the attack a war crime. They said that there were sick and wounded who were being treated at the hospital. It was also housing people displaced due to the ongoing war.
