As the festive season of Diwali approaches, the Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL) is taking steps to make the journey for people heading to their hometowns as convenient as possible. In a thoughtful move, the CMRL has announced the extension of evening peak hour services until 10 pm on November 9 and 10, recognizing the increased travel demands during this period.
Ā
Typically, evening peak hour services on the Chennai Metro run from 5 pm to 8 pm, with trains operating at a frequency of one every six minutes to accommodate the higher number of passengers. However, in light of the Diwali celebrations and the expected surge in travelers leaving the city, CMRL has decided to extend these peak hour services by an additional two hours, ensuring that commuters have a smoother and more accessible journey.

Following the extension, the extended peak hour services will provide a valuable option for travelers to avoid the traffic congestion that often plagues the roads during the festive season.Ā
