In a significant move towards enhancing metro rail construction, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has formalized a collaboration with the Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) through the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC). The MoC, inked on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024, underscores a joint effort to propel metro rail construction work to new heights.
The MoC was ceremoniously signed by T. Archunan, the Director (Projects) at CMRL, and R.R. Sawarup, the Director General of CIDC. This strategic partnership aims to foster collaboration, cooperation, and complementation in an effort to streamline business processes and elevate standards of safety, quality, and productivity in metro rail construction projects.
A press note released by CMRL emphasized that the MoC places paramount importance on customer interest. It outlines initiatives such as efficiency enhancement, quality assurance (QA) systems, environmental protection measures, and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOP). This customer-centric approach is set to enhance the overall metro rail experience for commuters.
The MoC also underscores the commitment to institutional and capacity building activities. This includes a focus on holistic Human Resource Development (HRD), research and development endeavors, establishment of task forces, and the operationalization of resources and infrastructure support.
In detailing the collaborative efforts, the press note from CMRL highlights the comprehensive nature of the MoC. It not only seeks to address the immediate needs of ongoing projects but also focuses on long-term sustainability and development in the metro rail sector. The integration of institutional and capacity building activities is expected to contribute to the overall growth and efficiency of metro rail operations.
