In response to demands from bus operators, the Transport Department has revised its plans, allowing 160 south-bound buses to continue operations from the Madhavaram bus terminus. Initially, the department had announced that all south-bound buses on GST Road would be rerouted to operate from the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (KCBT) in Kilambakkam. This change would have resulted in the cessation of operations from the Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.R. Bus Terminus in Koyambedu. The decision to maintain operations from Madhavaram came after Transport Minister S.S. Sivasankar convened a meeting with senior officials. According to a press release issued by the Transport Department, a total of 870 buses from various State Transport Corporations, including the State Express Transport Corporation, continue to serve different parts of central and south Tamil Nadu.
