Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has intensified his campaign against the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), reiterating his call for support and highlighting widespread opposition to the examination. In a social media post, Stalin announced that the Justice A.K. Rajan Committee’s report on NEET’s adverse effects has been translated into English and several major Indian languages to broaden its reach and impact.

Stalin pointed out the growing nationwide opposition to NEET, fueled by recent large-scale discrepancies in the exam. He emphasized that the Tamil Nadu Assembly had adopted a Bill seeking an exemption from NEET for the state, which is currently pending with President Droupadi Murmu. He criticized the delay by the Tamil Nadu Governor in forwarding the Bill for Presidential assent, calling it an “inordinate delay.”

Stalin highlighted that the DMK was the first party to recognize the “hazards of NEET” and undertook a comprehensive campaign against it. The DMK government established a high-level committee, led by Justice A.K. Rajan, to analyze the impact of NEET-based admissions on students.

The Justice A.K. Rajan Committee’s report, derived from extensive data analysis and feedback from students, parents, and the public, has been shared with various state governments. The report exposes NEET’s anti-poor and anti-social justice implications, according to Stalin. By disseminating the report in multiple languages, the Tamil Nadu government aims to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of the exam on marginalized communities.

Stalin’s renewed appeal comes at a time when the debate over NEET’s fairness and impact is intensifying across India. He urged all stakeholders to join the campaign against NEET, emphasizing the need for a more equitable system for medical admissions. The Tamil Nadu government remains committed to advocating for the Bill’s approval and securing an exemption from NEET for the state.
