The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall in 23 districts of Tamil Nadu on August 16, due to a trough and cyclonic circulation over the sea.
Districts likely to be affected include Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, and others along the Western Ghats and interior regions. The warning extends to August 17 and 18, with intense rain predicted in southern districts like Kanniyakumari, Tirunelveli, and Madurai.
Chennai and its suburbs may experience mild showers, while fishermen are advised to avoid the sea until August 18 due to squally weather and strong winds expected along the south Tamil Nadu coast and the Gulf of Mannar.
