Disclose ‘secret’ to cancel NEET, EPS urges DMK

In a recent speech in Salem, the leader of the opposition, Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), called on the DMK government to disclose the “secret” about the cancellation of the NEET exam, which was promised by Chief Minister Stalin but has yet to be fulfilled.
Addressing a gathering organized by farmers’ associations in the Mecheri region, EPS accused the ruling DMK of rampant corruption, claiming that there is no sector in Tamil Nadu free from corruption. He described the DMK government as a “corrupt and incompetent administration,” stating that Chief Minister Stalin should answer for these failures.
Referring to the alliance between the DMK and the Congress, EPS criticized Stalin for claiming that the AIADMK was trying to form an alliance with the BJP. He rejected this claim, saying that it was Stalin and the DMK who were attempting to forge alliances. EPS further pointed out the contradiction in Stalin’s actions, recalling how, during Modi’s visit to Tamil Nadu, Stalin had organized protests with black balloons, only to later welcome him with a white flag when he became Chief Minister.
EPS also accused Stalin of playing a dual role, portraying himself as someone who was opposed to the BJP but quietly aligning with them for political convenience. He said, “If you don’t align with the BJP, they will file cases against your alleged ill-gotten wealth. We won’t face raids, but you will.”
Recalling the events of 2011, EPS accused Stalin of secretly making deals with the Congress while publicly criticizing them. He emphasized that the AIADMK’s history has always been about fighting for the people’s needs, unlike the DMK, which he claimed was involved in dishonest politics.
The key issue EPS raised was the promise to abolish the NEET exam, a campaign promise made by Stalin’s government. He criticized the DMK for not fulfilling this promise despite 42 months having passed since they assumed office. Referring to the ongoing statements by DMK’s Udhayanidhi Stalin about having a “secret” plan to cancel NEET, EPS demanded that the government reveal it immediately. He accused the DMK of misleading the public during the election campaign, calling them liars.
Lastly, EPS mocked Udhayanidhi Stalin for his praise of his father, Chief Minister Stalin, calling them both “flip-floppers” who constantly switched sides to suit their political ambitions.
