The much-awaited Kannada film 45, directed by debutant Arjun Janya, has unveiled its teaser, setting the tone for a mythological-inspired action drama starring superstars Shiva Rajkumar and Upendra alongside Raj B Shetty. Slated for a grand release on August 15, the film is expected to hit screens in multiple languages, including Tamil, expanding its reach beyond Karnataka.
The teaser, rich in CGI and visual grandeur, showcases an intense, stylized narrative involving the three lead actors in what appears to be a universe blending mythology with modern action. Arjun Janya, one of Kannada cinema’s top music composers, marks his directorial debut with 45 and has brought together an impressive technical team, outsourcing VFX work to a Canadian studio and overseeing the process closely. Produced by Ramesh Reddy under the Suraj Productions banner, the film’s cinematography is handled by Satya Hegde, with music composed by Janya himself.
At a recent teaser launch event in Chennai, Shiva Rajkumar shared nostalgic memories of his time in the city and expressed excitement about the film. “It’s always special to be back in Chennai. I grew up here,” he said. On the film, he promised it would be “engaging, entertaining, and educating.” Upendra, who shares screen space with Shiva Rajkumar again after their iconic film Om, added, “Every moment with him on set is memorable. We started together, and it feels like a full circle.” With a strong cast, high production value, and a compelling concept, 45 is shaping up to be one of the biggest Kannada releases of the year.

AIADMK accuses TVK govt of Law and Order failure

NT BureauJuly 6, 20260

Chennai, July 6:
The AIADMK on Sunday launched a strong attack on the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), alleging a complete breakdown of law and order in Tamil Nadu and claiming that the government is preoccupied with securing its survival through “horse-trading.”

Citing a series of recent criminal incidents across the State, the party said the situation reflects a serious lapse in governance and public safety. It pointed to cases including the stabbing of a 19-year-old woman in Erode after she refused a marriage proposal, a double murder near Kallidaikurichi, the recovery of a missing 17-year-old girl’s body from a well in Thanjavur, and the alleged sexual assault of a 60-year-old woman in Arcot.

The AIADMK alleged that instead of addressing such issues, the ruling dispensation is focused on garnering legislative support to remain in power. It described the current administration as one sustained through political defections and alignments.

The party also criticised the condition of Amma Unavagam canteens, stating that the subsidised food scheme introduced by former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has been neglected. It accused the government of allowing the scheme to deteriorate as part of political vendetta.

Overall, the AIADMK claimed that Tamil Nadu is witnessing a decline in both law enforcement and welfare delivery, urging immediate corrective measures to restore governance standards in the State.
