The Government Vocational Training Institute in Guindy, Chennai, has opened applications for free training programs across various engineering and non-engineering sectors. A key highlight of this initiative is the introduction of five new industrial trades that align with the latest Industry 4.0 standards, offering future-ready technical education to eligible candidates.
Applicants must have passed at least the 8th or 10th standard. While the age limit for male candidates is up to 40 years, there is no age restriction for women, making it an inclusive opportunity for those looking to upskill or re-enter the workforce.
To support trainees, the government is offering several benefits. Each trainee will receive a monthly stipend of ₹750 during the course. Additionally, eligible students can receive ₹1,000 per month under the Tamil Pudhalvan (for boys) and Pudhumaipen (for girls) schemes. All trainees will also be provided with free uniforms, textbooks, and a bicycle to support their learning journey.
Interested candidates can apply online through the official website: www.skilltraining.tn.gov.in. The last date to apply is June 13, 2025.
This initiative is a significant step toward empowering youth and women with technical skills and employment opportunities in emerging industries. It reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to skill development and economic inclusion.
