Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) secured their third straight win in the MCC-Murugappa Gold Cup hockey tournament, defeating the Malaysia Junior National team 2-0 in a Pool B clash at Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium on Tuesday. After a goalless first half, Gurjinder Singh broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute, while Sumit Kumar sealed the win with a field goal in the 58th minute. Despite showing attacking potential, the Malaysian side struggled to breach the disciplined IOC defence. In Pool A, Railways Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) delivered a dominant 6-0 win over the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu. Gursahibjit Singh (15’, 34’) and Pankaj Rawat (30’, 48’) each scored a brace, while Simranjot Singh (52’) and Shivam Anand (54’) completed the rout. With this emphatic victory, RSPB now top their group with nine points and strengthen their position as title contenders.
