The makers of Coolie, the much-anticipated film starring Superstar Rajinikanth, have amped up promotions with the release of the film’s third single, ‘Powerhouse’. Composed and sung by Anirudh Ravichander, the energetic track also features rapper Arivu, who has penned the hard-hitting lyrics. The lyric video, which is as striking as the song itself, showcases a gritty, animated fight sequence mostly in black and white, enhanced with bold streaks of red and gold. These colors hint at the film’s central themes — violence, power, and wealth. The visual storytelling depicts thugs arriving at a place called the “Power House,” only to be brutally taken down by Rajinikanth’s character amidst stormy chaos.
An interesting easter egg in the track is Anirudh’s nod to the hit series Breaking Bad. Fans will notice iconic voice samples from Bryan Cranston’s character, including the chilling lines “Say my name” and “You’re goddamn right,” cleverly integrated into the song’s backdrop.
Coolie marks Lokesh Kanagaraj’s next big directorial venture after the success of Leo with Vijay. The film boasts a stellar ensemble cast including Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruthi Haasan. Notably, Aamir Khan will appear in a special cameo as a character named Dahaa, and has confirmed a future collaboration with Lokesh as well.
Previously, the film’s second single ‘MonicaI’ featured actress Pooja Hegde. The technical team of Coolie includes Girish Gangadharan on cinematography, Philomin Raj in charge of editing, Satheeskumar as art director, Sandy handling choreography, and Anbariv duo coordinating the stunts.
Backed by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, Coolie promises to be a massive entertainer blending action, attitude, and style — with Powerhouse giving audiences a powerful musical taste of what’s to come.
