Arun Vijay’s 36th film, titled Retta Thala, has officially wrapped up its shooting. Directed by Chris Thirukumaran and produced by Bobby Balachandran, the film went on floors with a formal pooja in April 2024 and has now entered post-production, setting the stage for a high-octane theatrical release.
In Retta Thala, Arun Vijay takes on dual roles — a challenging task that he says demanded intense preparation and versatility. “This is a very different film for me,” Arun Vijay shared. “I play two characters from entirely different backgrounds. It took hard work to bring them alive with distinct identities. Though action forms the core of the film, there’s strong emotion running throughout. After working with Bala sir in Vanangaan, I wanted to explore a completely different space, and Retta Thala gave me that scope.”
The film stars Siddhi Idnani and Tanya Ravichandran in lead roles, with Bigg Boss fame Balaji Murugadoss playing a significant character. With a compelling mix of characters and intense drama, Retta Thala promises to be a full-fledged commercial entertainer.
Music is composed by Sam C.S., who reunites with Arun Vijay after their successful collaborations. “Music will play a vital role in enhancing the film’s mood and energy,” says Sam. A special attraction is a song sung by actor Dhanush, which is expected to be a chartbuster.
Blending action, emotion, and innovation, Retta Thala is shaping up to be one of the most awaited films in Arun Vijay’s career. An official release date is expected to be announced soon.
