The Madras High Court has fixed October 15 for the final hearing in a case against Minister V. Senthil Balaji over alleged irregularities in transformer procurement.The case was filed by the organisation Arrpor Iyakkam, which claimed that tenders worth over ā¹1,182 crore were floated between 2021 and 2023 for about 45,800 transformers. The petition alleged a fraud of around ā¹397 crore involving Senthil Balaji, then Electricity Minister, and senior TANGEDCO officials.
It was also pointed out in court that 36 contractors had quoted the same price in the tenders, without even a small variation.
Justice N. Satheesh Kumar has directed that the final hearing in the case will take place on October 15.
