Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay has approached the Madras High Court challenging an order passed by the Income Tax Department imposing a penalty of ₹1.5 crore.The case pertains to allegations of concealed income, for which the tax department issued the order. Vijay has argued that the order is invalid, stating it was passed in 2022 instead of 2019, as required under law.
The Income Tax Department has maintained that the penalty was imposed as per legal provisions. Hearing the matter, the High Court directed the department to produce a certified copy of the order.
The case has been adjourned to October 10 for further proceedings.
