AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami strongly condemned the shocking incident in which a shoe was hurled at Chief Justice of India Justice B.R. Gavai inside court premises.âThe incident has deeply disturbed the conscience of the nation,â Palaniswami said, emphasizing that acts of aggression or intimidation within judicial institutions strike at the very foundation of democracy. He added that violence of any kind, especially within institutions that uphold the rule of law, is utterly unacceptable and must be condemned unequivocally.
Palaniswami commended Justice Gavai for his calm and dignified response, describing it as a reflection of his integrity, courage, and commitment to constitutional values. He also affirmed that security within the countryâs highest judicial institutions remains uncompromised and stressed that respect for the judiciary is essential to preserving public faith in democracy.
