The Election Commission (EC) will announce the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in several states including Tamilnadu today, officials said . The briefing will be held at 4.15 pm and is likely to be headed by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The poll body is expected to unveil the first phase of the SIR, covering 10 to 15 states, including those scheduled for Assembly elections in 2026.
Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry are among the states set to go to the polls next year.
Bihar, which recently completed its voter list update, has released the final roll featuring nearly 7.42 crore names as of September 30. The state is set to vote in two phases on November 6 and 11, with counting scheduled for November 14.
